Question by f2000715: How much above KBB value should one pay to dealer for a certified used car?
Hi,
I understand used car from a dealer costs more – but how much more would you pay above KBB ( $ 8500 ) for a 2002 Civic LX 68000 miles ( is certified with 12000 more miles warranty?)

i would take the average from kbb and edmunds, but kbb has a rating for private party, and for buying from a dealer. so if you got the price rating for a dealer, i wouldnt go very far above that at all. You are already paying more for the car than what you can get for it even if they are asking dealer price.

Question by carmenivy: Safe, affordable used cars?
I am looking for a used car that is safe, affordable, and big enough for a growing family. My husband won’t drive a minivan. I have looked online and “affordable” means $ 23,000 on most sites! I mean under $ 15,000. We have two kids and another due in May, and we would like to have one more.

Vehicles are expensive.
If you require 3 car seats in a vehicle, you probably need 3 rows of seats.
Finding a safe, reliable vehicle with 3 rows of seats for under $ 15,000 is a challenge since most of your ‘solution’ vehicles are newer models.
I would see if you can find a used Toyota Highlander or Mazda 5. A Chevy Uplander may also fit your needs, but personally, I don’t like them. Some people think the Uplander is more of an SUV, even though I think they look more like a minivan.
